Based on the video game series as well as both science fiction franchises, specifically the comics. – AVP has become a cruel joke in many ways cinematically. I’d love to see not just a reboot but a refresh of these classic horror/science fiction characters. More suspense. More story. More interesting characters. – One way to do this would be to bring back the marines! The colonials in Aliens were entertaining to be around and put a human face on the horror around them, making the monsters all the more menacing since each scream in the darkness had a name and face. Allow the humans to have a fully defined side in the conflict rather then just being extraneous, forgettable observers I think would vastly improve the AVP name. Likewise the inscrutable predators and aliens were best when they remained…alien. In Predator and Aliens (in my opinion the best examples of both series) they were both awesome forces, unpredictable, always striking from the shadows. The most entertaining aspects of the films for me wasn’t all the cool stuff they could do, the direct showing of which limited their abilities since their full extent was made known, but rather how the human characters without many natural defenses or offensive tactics beyond their ingenuity would fight to survive. In both films the enemy would only be driven back for a limited time by firepower, in the end it took brainpower to defeat them. – I included Sigourney Weaver in the trailer since Ridley is still my favorite of …
